I admit it, I am a total shill for every and any benefit that musicians contribute their heart, and in this instance, their soul, to.

There will be a benefit for Music Education in all Petaluma area schools this Saturday August 29th, at the Sonoma Marin Fairgrounds. Start time for the 2nd Annual Wine, Jazz and Blues Festival is 12:30 and it rolls on from there until 8:00PM with stellar performers like Joe Louis Walker, Booker T. and Charlie Musselwhite.

Ticket price is three tiered: general admission is $30.00 for the music only – for an additional $10.00 you get a wine ticket for 4 wine tastes, and, available presale only is a VIP Premium Ticket for $75.00 for reserved seating, 8 wine tastes and light appetizers. Yum.

The wines being featured are the gold and silver medal winners of the “North of the Gate” wine competition (over 500 wines entered) and for wine lovers, that would be enough. Speaking of “yum” there will be plenty of food booths featuring the best of the North Bay, so you won’t go hungry!

But there’s more — also performing will be Petaluma’s own Mozart of the trumpet, Peter Welker, with his Sextet, and Twice As Good, and, the Casa Grande Alumni BIG Band! Complete info on everything about the festival can be visited at www.pwjb.org/

There! Now for the inside nitty gritty: Joe Louis, Booker T. and Charlie happen to be among the most considerate, gentlemanly, noble and generous musicians I have ever met — Booker is like a real Prince, and Charlie is a true “global” citizen — besides blowing the meanest harp on the planet, he has a glow about him that is the result of years of visiting everywhere and everyone — a true ambassador. And Joe Louis — he’s simply the real deal.
Hat’s off to the Petaluma Wine, Jazz & Blues organization — this is a world-class event, and is a real showcase of the best of everything in one place — Petaluma!

Now, the only thing needed is YOU. Please do attend this stellar event – the cause of music education is so precious, given the present ruthless cutbacks of music and art programs statewide. You’ll have a great time – guaranteed!
