Sparked by one of the North Bay Area’s favorite singer songwriter performers, Linda Ferro, a benefit show for Haiti has come together this Thursday night, January 21st, from 6:30 PM on – at the Last Day Saloon in Santa Rosa – who are generously donating their venue. Ticket price is a $10+ donation to Red Cross for Haiti relief efforts.

The KRSH also is supporting this show, and Gretchen of the Bohemian held the presses to include this benefit in the Jan. 20th issue. This is a community effort, and literally, everyone is doing everything they can to help insure a timely response to the disaster that has occurred in Haiti.

The show will feature:

BluesBurners
Dr. Joel Rudinow & Rude Notes Galore
Levi Lloyd & 501 Band
Pulsators
Seraphin
Spencer Burrows and Kris Dilbeck (Frobeck)
The Linda Ferro Band
Thugz
DJ Sister Yasmin

Doors 6 PM/Showtime 6:30

Last Day Saloon
120 5th Street
Santa Rosa, CA 95401-6215

Mid-evening, I will lead a moment of silence in support of our brothers and sisters whose lives have been so tragically devastated. Joining me will be Coastal Native American elder, Choqosh Aun’Ho’Oh.

If you are unable to attend this gathering of our musical community, be sure to stop by Zone Music and make a donation to Doctors Without Borders or to Yele Haiti — founded by Haitian musician Wyclef Jean.

And here’s a reminder about what is important:

The tragic catastrophes that is happening in Haiti shakes our sense of well-being — and this is exactly the time to turn to the power of music to uplift, reassure, empower and heal us – so that we can continue to be effective in the world.

This is why the world turns to musicians for benefits – so, pick up an instrument and create some beauty — and I’ll see you at “Reach out to Haiti” on Thursday night.
