Larry Potts will be playing a CD Release party, as part of Petaluma’s new “capture and release” program for local artists.

The basic idea is to capture the award winners (Larry has won national awards for his songwriting) and to wring a performance out of them (Larry excels at this) before releasing them back into their wild native habitat — in this case the clubs and concert halls of the county.

OK, details? Saturday night, February 6th, at the Petaluma Arts Center, located at 230 Lakeville Street, at the corner of East Washington and Lakeville — there is plenty of parking.

The cost is $15.00 at the door — a very reasonable price for an all star band featuring George Merrill on keyboards, Kevin Harris on guitar, the world famous Bruce Kurnow on harmonica, and other special guests. And the new CD, “Close to Home” will be available – it’s a nice collection of tunes, including a couple of favorites.

And you get the idea? This guy is great — really talented. I played a cut off of the new CD on the air at the KRSH 95.9 FM this morning, and got an immediate reaction — people wanted to know “Who is that guy?” So here in Petaluma, thanks to this advance alert, you’ll be in the “in crowd” spending an evening with some great music. Beer, wine and snacks will be available (for purchase), and the venue — the Petaluma Arts Center — is a really enjoyable place to hear artists perform.

And the immediate release of talented artists, back into the gene pool, insures many generations of artists to come, for us all to enjoy! Thank you Petaluma Arts Council!
