My love for our community in Petaluma just expanded a notch with the compassionate response of a large number of Petaluma’s restaurants to the continuing nightmare in Haiti.
A percentage of income from dinner on Thursday February 18th will go 100% to Doctors Without Borders – as part of the “To Haiti With Love” benefit at the Mystic. The benefit begins at 6:30, and is free – people are being asked to donate what they can ($10.00 suggested, but come and donate what you can afford).

Participating restaurants include Applebee’s, Beyond the Glory, Blu, Brixx, Dempsey’s, Graffiti, Graziano’s, Kabuki, La La’s Creamery, Maguires, McNears, Old Chicago, Traxx, Tres Hombres, Zazzle, Aqus Cafe, and more are signing on — look for the special “This Business is Participating” poster in the window of your favorite restaurant.

Also, check www.restaurantshelpinghaiti.com for full details.

This response from the restaurants of Petaluma is extraordinary. And while we are out enjoying a meal before the benefit show, please congratulate and thank the owners, managers, wait staffs, busboys, and chefs at these establishments – the expansion of awareness that this evening represents is something to be recognized and cherished.

The show at the Mystic will be spectacular — I’ll talk more about the bands tomorrow — for now, I want to mention that there will be a cool raffle and silent auction, with lots of great prizes — so come prepared!

Finally, this is an all ages evening at the Mystic — everyone is welcome – and families are especially invited. What better way to show our youngsters that we ARE a community than by taking them out and showing them!

OK – I don’t usually ask for this: please forward this message to your list, to your family and friends, because it will take all of us together sharing the necessity for a compassionate response to make a difference in what is happening in Haiti.

Doctors Without Borders is providing critically needed medical assistance, making a difference in people’s lives during this time of crisis – hour by hour, day by day, since the very beginning – they have been saving lives, and our support could not go to a better organization.

Thank you.
